Stop the deposit before it leaves the account.
A gambling block declines the payment at your bank, whatever you have talked yourself into. Some banks have one. Most of the big US ones don't, and say so nowhere — so here is which is which, how long each block takes to lift, and what actually works at the banks that offer nothing.

At a glance
Of the 16 banks and payment apps compared here as of August 24, 2026, 3 publish a gambling-specific block — Monzo and Starling Bank and TSB, both UK app banks. None of the 13 US institutions listed offers a self-service gambling toggle on its own support pages; what they offer instead is a card lock, which comes off in a tap. The delay before a block can be lifted is the only feature that does any work, and a lock has none.

What if my bank doesn't have one?
Then stop looking for a setting that isn't there, and build the block out of the layers that do exist. Every page below says what its bank can and cannot stop, and gives the moves that work instead — none of them require the bank's cooperation.

A card block is one layer, not the plan
Every block on this page reads a merchant category code, so every one of them misses crypto exchanges, bank transfers and cash. Put the other rings around it: self-exclusion inside each betting app, your state's self-exclusion program where one exists, and a device-level blocker. The full walkthrough is in how to block gambling transactions on your bank account — and if you need the number that settles it, work out what a year of this costs.
