Ban yourself from the app, not just the habit.

Every operator must let you self-exclude — and every one hides it in a different menu. The exact path for each major US betting, DFS and sweeps app is below. Do them all in one sitting, then add your state's program on top.

Of the 11 operators compared here as of August 23, 2026, 7 will not reverse a self-exclusion before it expires, and 8 offer a lifetime or indefinite option. Closing an account is never the same as excluding — a closed account can be reopened; an exclusion is a ban the operator must enforce.

Self-exclusion terms and reversibility for major US betting operators
Operator Products Exclusion terms Reversible?

Caesars Sportsbook sportsbook, casino 1 year or 5 years in-app; 1 year, 5 years or permanent through the NJ DGE No — it cannot be revoked for the chosen duration, and reinstatement after the minimum 12 months is not automatic: a dedicated reinstatement form must be submitted.
DraftKings sportsbook, casino, DFS varies by state — see page DraftKings' own pages block automated verification, so no reversal rule can be quoted — treat an exclusion as locked for its full term. The state programs that bind DraftKings (New Jersey's, for example) cannot be reversed before the term you chose ends.
ESPN BET sportsbook, casino (as ESPN BET and Hollywood Casino where iCasino is live) 1–5 years in AZ, CO, IN, NJ, OH, PA, TN and WV · 1 year to lifetime in IL, KY, NY and NC · 5 years minimum or lifetime in IA and LA · 2 years or lifetime in MD and VA; KS: 2, 5 or lifetime; MA: 1, 3, 5 or lifetime No — it runs until the chosen period expires, and several states then require a removal request, a problem-gambling assessment or a course before reinstatement.

FanDuel sportsbook, casino, DFS, racing a term you set in years, starting at 1 year, up to indefinite FanDuel's pages publish no early-cancel rule — you will be unable to access your gaming account for the period you set. One app is never the whole problem

Operator bans are the first ring. Layer your state self-exclusion program (one enrollment, every licensed operator), a device-level blocker and a bank gambling block on top — and if you need the push, see what gambling is costing you first.

Frequently asked questions

What does self-excluding from a betting app actually do?
You tell the operator to ban you: it must close or suspend your account, refuse your bets, and stop marketing to you for the term you chose. It is stronger than deleting the app and different from closing the account — a closed account can usually be reopened; an exclusion cannot.
Is closing my account the same as self-exclusion?
No. Closure just ends the relationship — most operators will happily reopen the account or let you make a new one. Self-exclusion is a ban the operator must enforce. If you are quitting, take the exclusion.
Do I have to self-exclude from every app separately?
Operator self-exclusion is per-operator, so yes — every sportsbook, casino and DFS app you hold. That is exactly why a state program is worth more where one exists: one enrollment binds every operator licensed in the state at once. 8 of the 11 operators here offer a lifetime or indefinite option.
Can I undo an operator self-exclusion early?
Usually not — 7 of the 11 operators listed here will not reverse one before it expires. The delay is deliberate: it is the feature you are buying.
Do DFS and sweepstakes apps fall under state self-exclusion?
Often not. Many state programs cover licensed sportsbooks and casinos but not daily-fantasy or sweepstakes-casino products, which is why excluding directly inside those apps matters — check each operator's page here and your state's page for what is actually covered.
